Innovating during the crisis and restarting tourism calls for unity, extraordinary actions, agility, combination of different thinking styles and risk taking.
We are searching for 15 high-potential international start-ups, 3 finalists per category, to come to Andermatt and immerse themselves in innovation activities, coaching and mentoring, and become the driving force helping the tourism sector restart faster and move forward.
The 5-day Start-Up Innovation Camp forms part a new hybrid event, ‘Moving Forward’ an Innovation Festival by World Tourism Forum Lucerne, an exclusive platform to make valuable connections and showcase your solutions to the world and connect with investors.
The camp’s programme will be carried out in two parts- online activities focused on business optimization and business expansion scheduled for 26-29 April and a physical participation focused on pitching and networking on 13-16 November 2021 in Andermatt, Switzerland.
The Start-Up Camps, powered by WTFL and industry partners, aim to boost the innovation ecosystem in the travel, tourism and hospitality sector. We help tourism-related start-ups to connect with investors, learn from industry experts and academic thought leaders, as well as grow to global markets, scale and commercialise innovative solutions.
“The Start-Up Innovation Camp was a great opportunity to meet and exchange exciting ideas with like-minded entrepreneurs and industry leaders! One of them even joined us as COO and another two as members of our Advisory Board, and we made many useful and interesting contacts. It definitely put us on the map of innovative travel tech startups to watch.”

The alpine Swiss Resort of Andermatt, a true tourism success story, has a lot to teach the start-up world about growing stronger from crisis and seeing opportunities where others don't, even locals. In the last 15 years, the destination went against all odds to reinvent itself from being an ex-military base with depopulation problems and a lack of job opportunities to a well-established year-round destination, that has attracted so far 1bn USD worth of investment and counting.
Andermatt is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps with access to ski areas such as Gemsstock or Natschen. It lies 1437 meters above sea level offering inspiring scenic views and a cozy traditional setting with beautiful cottages.
